Woah I almost have the same type of chess pieces
The shadow of the uh glass typed pieces are good, but the other one's is the same colored as the piece itself. I know what you tried to do but it looks really bad at this point of view:

I would say try making it a bit darker like the shadow or make its transparency less or do something to fix it

From the image you posted the glass pieces are the pieces at the top.

I didn't technically try to do anything, the shadows are calculated by the software.

But um, if you expand on what you think is wrong then I'll try to fix it.

If it's just the colour then I think it's because they're frosted glass, meaning that the shadow is going to be the same colour of the piece.

Yeah that was what I meant, I thought you yourself made them from scratch

Nah.

But yeah, the shadow of the glass pieces is correct.

Anything else?

Nothing else actually but...the edges of the non-glass pieces(what do you call those anyway? black or white?), ones whose shadow has problems have smooth edges but whereas the edges of the other glass one looks like scratched up or something. The reflection of the light actually kinda makes it look bad from side ways

Oh and I believe those 'scratches' are just the reflection of the other pieces. It's probably just the angle.

So I'm going to finish off the chessboard over the weekend.

I'm going to make the knight, alter the materials so that they're easier to tell apart, put all of the pieces in the correct positions and generally make it look like a finished piece.
